![]() It's challenging enough through most of the game to remain engaging without feeling oppressive through some sections. Veteran to me should be the sweet spot for you. I started on elite and died repeatedly though, but you learn as you go. I have characters from at least normal-elite and a hardcore one or two as well, and I can tell you that normal offers little challenge. You may struggle to kill things efficiently, but as long as you're alive, your enemies soon won't be so that doesn't really matter.Īll this adds up to me saying that I agree with Scrotoctus in saying that Veteran is likely the difficulty for you. This does mean though that you'll obviously have a sub-optimal build both in skills and stats so a higher difficulty may not be the correct choice.įinally, if you prefer a defensive approach over an offensive one (the sword and board approach for example), you'll live longer and likely be able to up the difficulty a tad for this as well. If you don't care, then you can do pretty much whatever build you want in game (I recommend this heavily, its way more fun). I don't see the two being distinct because you'll find the game too easy I think if you're so well built. I say this because if you're that interested in the way the game plays, you're up for the challenge. If you're wise to these things in games, then obviously the difficulty could be increased without much trouble.įar as the meta thing goes, if you're seriously interested in the "perfect" build, then go for Elite Difficulty. The thing that kills me the most is standing where or when I shouldn't stand somewhere, which usually involves fire/traps/huge hits etc. I say this the way I do for a few reasons: the "universal knowledge of gaming" with the first couple points is totally relevant in this game. If a boss for example winds up a huge slam attack, you should move.ĭo you care about min/max'ing or meta builds at all?ĭo you prefer more offensive or defensive approaches to your gameplay? So if you just want to dive into a dungeon at any time, it's the place to go.Are you new to this genre? If not, ignore the following.ĭon't stand in the fire (or anything else that you didn't do).ĭon't take hits you don't need to. They'll have a specified level range and varying conditions. The Mapworks has a merchant who sells you maps to randomized dungeons. You can always access it from a town in any future NG+. There's also an area called the Mapworks that unlocks when you beat the final boss for the first time. If you beat that, you can play it again, but the enemies won't get any tougher. The player level cap is 100, so that could be an additional challenge to look forward to. From what I've read, it goes all the way up to NG++++, where enemies are Level 120. I'm only on my first NG+, and I'm almost always at or near the suggested levels of the area I'm in. You can do a NG+ every time you play the game. Elite was fucking brutal for me, but others have found it great. Seeing as you want a challenge, I'd say start with Veteran or Elite. (But you can play a LAN game and change the difficulty to get around that.) So the challenge all depends on the difficulty you go for. First off, you're locked to the difficulty you choose at the beginning. The game is not set up in a way that's meant for you to start low and work your way up the difficulties. ![]() (Rarely)Īll difficulties are unlocked from the start. I would just appreciate it if you could just change what it says for my character from casual to elite so I can play singer player Elite whenever I play single player. I wanted that achievement so goddamn bad but its not even what im asking for here. I dont even know what to do at this point. (Edit: not that you probably care.) I just cant believe this happened. (Dont even get me started on the #FINAL BOSS# who is WAY harder IMO) it said Casually Hardcore I literally broke not only my headset but my monitor and my desk. When the achievement popped up, AFTER I SPENT THREE HOURS (and Like 60 hp and mana pots)FIGHTING #BOSS# TWICE. Sorry for caps im just so god damn irritated you cant even IMAGINE (LITERALLY YOUR MIND CANNOT FATHOM). And even after those 1-3 1/2 hour Act closing boss fights, and the endless kiting and NOT TO MENTION THE STUPID PUT YOU AT 13 HP EVERY TIME THEY HIT YOU WITH INSANELY LONG RANGE DWARF CANNON WALKERS WHICH ARE OP AS FUCK, IT COUNTED AS CASUAL!? I MEAN WTF ARE YOU SERIOUS RIGHT NOW?(Edit: I apologize before hand if its steam related) I EVEN FIGURED OUT THE #SPOILER#. I just destroyed 28 or so hours of my life for almost none of the credit I deserve.
